This was clearly the big event for the month. Can you imagine? A true VIRGIN wants us to find her first boyfriend on the Internet! You might wonder why a girl might want to give "it" away to a complete stranger found on the Internet. We asked Nicole the same question. Her answer was kind of a reflection on Colombian men: She said that she could of course pick a Colombian man, but he would just cheat on her like so many other Colombian men do (her words, not mine). Considering that option, she might as well pick a stranger and start her adult life (she's 18 years of age) on the right foot financially. Well, I couldn't really argue this much!
So how did the auction go? We intentionally put the minimum bid low at $500 to encourage bidding. And even before the web page with the auction was finished completely, we had already received our first bid at $1,000. We then received a couple of subsequent bids just above $1,000, before one gentleman made the big jump: $5,000! You should have seen Nicole's face when I told her about it! The following days were a lot more quiet, but once we started advertizing in the Far- and Middle-East, things started to move again. On the 29th of November we received what was going to be the final bid: US $8,000! Yeah! It turned out that the final and highest bid has been placed by a gentleman in Saudi-Arabia. Maybe Nicole's first boyfriend is going to be an Oil-Scheich! We're currently working with the winner to agree the details of his trip to Medellin. An interesting tidbid from the auction: Nicole's photos (face hidden to protect her identity) was seen 16,000 times!

Feature Article: December in Medellin
December is one of the best months to visit Medellin: The Paisas dress up their city for the holidays beyond imagination! They really give the term "Festival of Lights" a new meaning. I know a lot of cities all over the world, but there is no city I know where that much love and effort is spend to make the city beautiful for the holidays.The preparations have been going on for a more than a month and every once in a while you could see one of the beautiful displays lighted up when they were tested. The Christmas decorations can be found all over the city, but the heart of the action will really be the river which flows through Medellin: It won't even resemble a river anymore. Some of the displays seem to not be out of this world. The lighted displays are called "Alumbrados" in Spanish and range from cute and traditional to stunning and innovative. Don't miss it! The next big event in Medellin after December will then be Colombia Moda and Feria de las Flores in August, and August is a long ways away!
New Models: Chantal and Jacqueline
We hired two new models in November: Chantal and Jacqueline, both 19 years old. They are good friends and it's interesting to see the dynamics going on between the two of them. They both could be modeling for Vidal Sasoon, because their hair is what you normally only see in shampoo commercials.
Chantal is the more outgoing than her friend. She has a movie star smile and is very sexy and playful. She loves the camera and the camera loves her. Chantal will also start a modeling career at the same time.
Jacqueline is more shy, but very cute and cuddly. I just love her little baby voice.
The two girls will appear on the website in a week or two, so if you'd like to be their first customer let me know.
What's New in Colombia: Miss Colombia 2008!
In November a new Miss Colombia was crowned in Cartagena. This was the 74th time a Miss Colombia was crowned. Beauty pageants are a BIG part of the colombian culture. They're even held in high-schools, where girls from 9 to 18 years of age learn how to do the "cat walk". Almost every beautiful girl in Medellis participated in a beauty contest at some point of time in her life. This year, a 22-year old lady with the name of Michelle Rouillard Estrade from the department of Cauca was able to grab the crown. I heard a couple of ladies in Medellin say that they considered the new Miss Colombia "ugly (fea)". Well, I guess I can live with this kind of uglyness.
What's Upcoming
We haven't made much progress with our travel program this month, so this is on our agenda for December.
We're also working on a whole new part of the website where we will introduce our beautiful city Medellin. We'll tell you how to get here and of course we'll talk about security. We'll have suggestions for hotels and we'll share ideas with you what you can do in Medellin during the day. Of ourse we'll also cover the infamous Medellin nightlife, the Rumba for you.
